About
Hello, I’m Mia Wexford, an IT security professional based in Australia with a focus on VPN development, digital privacy, and network protection. My career blends formal education with hands-on experience spanning more than fifteen years, allowing me to create practical and effective solutions for online security.
I earned my degree in Information Technology from the University of Technology Sydney, specialising in network systems and cybersecurity. While my academic background provided a solid foundation, it was my professional experience that truly shaped my skills and expertise.
From 2008 to 2012, I worked as a Network Administrator and Security Analyst at a major Australian telecommunications company, gaining valuable insight into ISP-level networks, data management practices, and large-scale security operations. Between 2012 and 2016, I consulted for small and medium businesses in Melbourne, delivering tailored security strategies, conducting vulnerability assessments, and training teams to adopt best practices in cybersecurity.
Since 2016, I have been working independently as a Security Consultant and Educator, specialising in VPN technologies and privacy-focused solutions. My work includes one-on-one consultations, comprehensive security audits, content creation for educational purposes, and ongoing research into encryption methods, tracking mitigation, and user privacy enhancement.
In addition to my technical work, I am committed to digital privacy advocacy in Australia. I actively participate in policy discussions, contribute to cybersecurity forums, and collaborate with organisations promoting accessible privacy tools and awareness.
Today, I continue to develop innovative VPN and security solutions that make protecting personal data straightforward and effective. My mission is to help Australians—and people around the world—navigate the internet safely and confidently. You can learn more about my work at https://miawexford.com/.
